Description

The French brothers Joseph-Michel Montgolfier (1740 – 1810) and Jacques-Étienne Montgolfier (1745 – 1799)
discovered in 1782 that heated air, when collected inside a large lightweight paper or fabric bag, caused the bag to rise into the air. The Montgolfiers made the first public demonstration of this discovery on June 4, 1783, at the marketplace in Annonay.

La Faïencerie d’Art de Malicorne located in Normandie, France, commemorates the French Revolution of 1789 in combination with this invention.
The plates are hand crafted and hand painted; every piece is signed to guarantee authenticity.
Size: 10 inch diameter.
